Q: transferring photos from old mac to new mac

I purchased a new MacBook Pro to replace my old MacBook pro and went through the steps to transfer all my files to the new computer. My photos have transferred partially - but there are still photos that are showing as a grey box and have not completed transferring. It has been 2 days since I transferred files over so I am not sure why some of my pictures have not transferred. The strange part is that it seems random which pictures are not visible yet - some show from 2015 while others don't, some from 2014 show, and others don't. I would love suggestions!

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.4)

    Hello lbbanks5,

Congratulations on your new MacBook Pro. I know that it can be annoying if you do not see all of your pictures, especially if it looks to be just random pictures.

To have a good starting point to fix this, I would look at the source. Start with looking at your original iPhoto library on your old computer to see if the photos show up there. If they do not, then you will want to check out the steps in the article below to rebuild your library.

iPhoto 6 and later: Rebuilding the iPhoto library

Once you have rebuilt it, then copy the library over by either using File Sharing or using an external hard drive to then replace your current library.

Thanks for reaching out on the Apple Support Communities.
