Q: change birthday for my kid's apple id

Hello,

I want to change the birthday for my kid's apple id. I set up their apple id with a bogus birthday. Now I want to set up family sharing. I set it up as me as the organizer. I added my two kids and they accepted. I tried to change their birthday in their Apple ID and it sent me an email. I clicked on the link. Logged into iTunes and verified my credit card number.

my kids still show up as Adult in my family sharing. Argghhh!

How do I make it recognize they are now kids?

Welcome to the Apple Community.

Unfortunately, it isn't possible to change the birthday once the ID is set up.

Yes it is possible.

Update the birth date associated with your Apple ID - Apple Support

I assume you missed the bit at the bottom.

Be sure to enter your correct birthdate. After you change it to any age below 13, you will no longer be able to edit it. Learn more about Apple IDs for children.

Yes, I saw that. I entered their correct birthday (below 13) followed all of the steps to the letter and the IDs are still classified as Adult.

I'm pretty sure the birthdays can't be changed if they are below 13.

Birthdays were changed. It's been a long time but I seem to remember that the process got hung up because I had a debit card as my payment source. Once I changed it to a credit card and after many phone conversations with apple support the birthdays were changed.
