Q: Keyboard not working and no response to track pad or mouse clicks
This isn't so much a question and some information I wanted to share. My Macbook Pro late 2014 stopped responding to the keyboard. I could move the cursor around with the track pad, or with a USB mouse I had attached, but the computer would not respond to clicks from either. I had a long chat with Apple Support and ultimately it was felt there must be a hardware problem. BUT before I shipped my Mac off there was one other resource I wanted to check with. He came and looked at he computer, booted it up from something he plugged into a USB port (sorry I haven't got all those details). He asked me if I had a mouse, and as I was using my USB mouse on another machine I got my travelling Apple blue tooth mouse out of my computer bag. The blue tooth mouse had been left switched on, and was either squashed as if it were being clicked, or there was some talk about static, but this seems to have been what was causing the keyboard and track pad not to function. In fact I can reproduce the problem by holding down the right click on the mouse! Moral of the story is remember to switch off your blue tooth mouse if it not in use. If there is a better community where to share this information, please repost.
