Q: My Retina Display has stain damage, HELP!!!

photo.JPG

I dont know how it happened, but somehow my retina display got some weird clear-ish stain damage that is very noticable on a black background. I have tried to clean it with water and a micro fiber cloth like usual, but i think this is not something on top of the screen as much as it is something has like eaten away a part of the screen... I need help! what do i do to solve this aside from replacing the screen... if water and microfiber arent working, what else can i use? I am worried that windex or alcohol will excacerbae the problem, as i suspect it might have been alcohol that caused the problem in the first place, but im not sure... any insight, please? this is driving me nuts

My screen is doing the same thing.  Went into the Apple Store today and heard every explanation imaginable from using Windex (never) to alcohol (nope) to just a basic soft electronics cloth.  When I ponied up just shy of $2K for my Macbook Pro, I expected the screen (the black outlined film found UNDER the glass) to last longer than a year and a half.

Apple, this kid of product quality is just UNACCEPTABLE.  You know it and everyone who is experiencing it knows it.  Time to own up and take responsibility for your very expensive product.  Fix the problem and make it right.

It has probably been mentioned a hundred times already if you read the thread but Apple are NOT here. You need to contact Apple Customer Service or take it into an Apple Authorised Repairer or Apple Store. Pleas to Apple here are falling on deaf ears here, as it is only a user to user forum.

    Cheers

In any case, sounds like another sad case of Windex.

My Ten Month old Macbook Pro Retina 15 (Mid-2014) screen has some 8-9 dots (due to AR coating peel off) at the corners of keys 'D', 'F' and around the centre of the screen. The screen is pristine everywhere else. I also have Applecare valid till 2017. I am going to raise an issue at Apple Support in India tomorrow and see what happens. Having owned a Macbook since 2008, havent come across anything like this. A simple google about the issue brought me here and I am glad I saw the posts. Will post about my experience in Delhi, India as I am sure that this is a defect from the manufacturer and not user induced cosmetic damage.

It is irrelevant what BirknerAlex says. It is what your Apple Store say when you take it in that counts.

The reason I can't test it is because the Macbook Pro would've been my first Mac. These rumors have scared me off, so I want to know the problem. Also, if you don't mind, I would like to know why you say 9to5Mac is a "rubbish" site, just so I know why. The majority of the Mac info seems to be legit.

    Thanks,

It matters not, now,  as your post has been removed for the umpteenth time as you will be removed if you continue to post it.

Stains started after 12 Months of usage, now with 23 Months its on all borders of my Early 2013 MacBook Pro.

The Reseller doesn't want to repair it because they say its Apples Fault, Apple says the Reseller has to fix it because of the warranty.

    I bought a macbook pro retina 13 -inch mid 2014 11 July 2015!!

I use a laptop at home, and very carefully.

The problem appeared after only 7-10 days after purchase!!
Clean the screen only twice . Use the c
