Q: Prohibitory sign during boot
Hardware: MBP 15", non-Retina, late 2011. Core-i7, 8GB RAM, Intel 530 120GB SSD, stock 512GB HDD (instead of optical drive - this one is removed).
Software: Mac OS X, version is from somewhere around may - the time when it booted last time and none since then. Should be 10.10.3, I guess.
When I boot I hear usual boot chore, then I see apple logo and a progress bar under it, then it switches to prohibitory sign and nothing more happens.
I've tried safe mode with no luck, I did AHT test - it showed that all is OK, I did verify + repair for both drives and partitions on them drives - it now shows no error and that all is OK but still fails to boot. When I load in verbose, it eventually says "Still waiting for root device".
What has happened in the first place: the usual problem with video chip, common for this model. Motherboard was replaced within extended support program for video issues by authorised service provider. They also mentioned that one of two RAM-modules fails and ejected it, it is not installed now (leaving me with only 8GB RAM as I described above). But it fails to boot with described scenario...
I also have fully backed-up image from my SSD drive to my HDD drive. I would be fine with idea of OS X re-installing, but only if I could fully restore my environment, 1-to-1 as it was before - is that possible with TimeMachine?
Please, help!
MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)
