Q: How do I troubleshoot Airport Express errors?

How do I troubleshoot errors on Apple Express? (i.e. where are the errors and remedies documented?)

Error -6753 typically means that the AirPort Utility is having difficulty communicating with the base station. For Windows devices this usually manifests itself in one or both of the following two areas: 1) Windows (or third-party) software firewall is enabled and the correct ports are not opened, and/or 2) IPv6 is not enabled.

    All good now.

    • I restarted modem, Airport router and computer (turned the Norton firewall off).
    • Then was able to update firmware.
    • Then rebooted again (which turned the Norton firewall back on)
    • Then had all the features and functions of Airport Utililty.
    • Went through all the settings successfully and exported the log.

     

    I still don't know what the security code is that the printer was asking for to set it up for wireless operation, but in the course of the reboots, the printer (HP) successfully re-established itself, which was the original reason I went poking into the Airport utility in the first place.

     

    Thank you both for your time and effort in helping me sort out this issue... much appreciated.
