Q: New battery or battery service?
Hi Everyone,
I have a 2008 13-in MacBook. It has held up very well. But I am starting to get the "Replace battery soon" message when I charge these days, so I figured it was time to start thinking about what to do next.
The Apple website is a little confusing. They seem not to sell the batteries anymore? Instead they advise coming in for a battery service.
- If I get the battery service are they just going to sell me a battery? Will that be an additional fee to the service?
- Is there a reliable source for the right battery? I'm tech savvy enough to be able to change it out, but I'm that person who tries to get things directly from the manufacturer b/c I can't be sure I'm not getting a knock off online/I want to have some recourse if something goes wrong.
- Anyone have experience with how long their battery lasted once that message started to show up?
Thank you!
