Q: Hello! I am creating a large photos picture book. It will not allow me to add page numbers. Is there any way to do so without having to change themes?

I hsve a MAC with the new Photos program. It will not let me add page numbers to the large picture book I have made. I do not want to change the theme, as this will ruin the layout of the pictures.

Please help. Thank you.

Thanks for the advice but unfortunately, for whatever reason, this button is not available on the large hardcover book that I chose.
If I want that button, I need to change the theme and that ruins the layout of my pages. I thought it was available when I began the book.
I am hoping now to just insert a textbox onto the pages. I added the pages to the Photos program in pdf format.

Try this: Control (right) - click on the Options button below one of the pages in full size and you'll get this contextual menu:

It wasn't at the top but connected to the Option button.

What system and Photos versions are your running? I've got Photos 1.0.1.

Also does this happen on every page?

Are you able to get the page no. option in other themes? You can create a new book with only one photo and test with it.

I am using the same version of Photos 1.0.1
Yes, when I switch to a new book theme it does show the add page numbers.
I just don't want to change it now, as the layout will be changed too much.
I might just order the book, as is, and use a Sharpie to add page numbers myself.

It appears that that particular book entry in the Photos database is damaged. You can try duplicating the book, select and type Command + D, and then try changing the theme on the copy to another and then back again. If some of the text gets messed up you can copy and past from the original book.

When I try to change it back, the format won't work again. Rather frustrating. Can't get it to accept the pages from the other book either.

Good luck with the book and let us know how it turns out. Before ordering be sure to create a preview PDF file of the book according to this Apple document: Preview a print project in Photos, iPhoto, or Aperture to avoid issues - Apple Support and check for errors, text, photos, etc. Save the pdf file to compare with the printed copy when it arrives.
