Is it possible to use an external harddrive at the TimeCapsule with a Mac OS Extended format that is encryted?

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.4)

    Not directly.. you need to understand that encrypted drive is controlled by the OS of the device.. on the local computer that is the computer itself.. on a TC it would have to be the TC firmware.. and that is not possible.. or just not supported by the TC firmware.

     

    You can encrypt the data stored on the drive.. this is handled by the application you use.. eg Time Machine can make encrypted backups. Most copy software or backup software can do it..

     

    You can also create a DMG or Sparsebundle virtual disk on the external drive.. and it may well be possible to encrypt that.. let me check that.

    This doesn't say you can do it on network shares.. but I see no reason for it not to work.

    I will try to use this hint of yours. In the main time if found with the AirPort base stations: About USB disks - Apple Support support documentation with says that it is not supported, what as shame!

     

    The main problem is  now that TC doesn't recognize my hard drive at all even in HFS+.
