My screen just went white. 

I had to restore data from backup.

    Check to make sure the update was installed.

     

    Click your Apple  top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac. Version should be 10.10.4

    I am using MacBook Air and recently updated to X Yosemite 10.10.4 and had no issues. However updating required good internet speed and considerable time and during update. Don't worry patiently try updating again using "update software" option and am sure it will work. And i assure you that 10.10.4 is fantastic. Once 10.10.4 update is done be prudent to update those softwares ONLY which you use to avoid occupying unnecessary space in your MAC
