Q: How do I connect my iphone to my pc itunes

I have content on my pc itunes that I would like to listen to on my iphone 5c but when I hit the button "connect" on the itunes screen I get "error". How do I connect the the two? They are both on the same wi-fi.

iPhone 5c, iOS 8.4
