Q: voicemail notifications iOS 8.4

I have an iPhone 5 and the voicemail notifications are not being shown in the "phone" icon since the 8.4 upgrade was installed.  During a test another person called 4 different times and left messages.  Only one voicemail appeared on the iPhone.  The icon didn't show any voicemail notifications.

All settings in the notification center and for the phone are set properly.  (Identical to an iPhone 6+ with iOS 8.4)

Support personel at Apple say it is the carriers problem and ATT says it is an Apple problem.

Any ideas what I can try next?

    Hello, Greg.

Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.

I understand Visual Voicemail is not working after you updated your iPhone.  Voicemail is in fact a feature offered and provisioned to your account by the carrier.  However, try these solutions.  Call AT&T's automated system to reset your Visual Voicemail password.  Once this is done, select the voicemail icon in the Phone application and enter your password.  Test to see if you can access your voicemail after this.  I would then recommend going through the steps in the article below if the issue persists.  This may include reaching out to a specialist at AT&T to check your account provisioning.

I have an iPhone 6 running iOS9.3.2, however I have seen this problem on earlier iOS versions.  This problem has been reported on the forums over ONE YEAR AGO.  This is a BUG, perhaps in the Apple side of things.  It is easy to reproduce, so it should be debuggable if any one bothered.

If the phone has WiFi enabled, it will not notify me of voicemail messages left, nor do the messages show up in visual voicemail.  If I disable WiFi, and then power cycle the iPhone, after a little bit of time the notification of voicemail comes into the phone.  The voicemail will appear in the visual voicemail list, however the CONTENT of the voicemail is NOT available.  You can't play it, the time values are zero, the play button is greyed out.

If the phone is turned on with the WiFi disabled, as described above, it will work just fine.  Voicemail works, the world is happy.  Until you turn on WiFi again, and then the problem reappears.  I went for a month and gathered several voicemail messages that I was unaware of due to this bug.

Again, this appears as a problem in your forums at least one year back.  Does anyone at Apple test software anymore?  Or listen and respond to bug reports?
