Q: How do I login when my bluetooth keyboard stops working?  I think the Mac forgot that it was paired to the keyboard.

My wireless Apple keyboard stopped working on my Mac.  It was fine yesterday, but today acts like it's no longer paired with the Mac.  I can't login because of this problem.  I checked the keyboard on another computer and it was working fine.  How can I get past the login screen when the wireless keyboard won't enter the keystrokes?

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)

    Re-pair it in BlueTooth Preferences.

    Replace the batteries.

Be sure the keyboard is always left on.

Because the keyboard "lost" it's pairing with the Mac, I couldn't get to the BlueTooth preferences because I couldn't enter my password on the login screen.  I solved the problem by hooking an old Dell usb keyboard directly to the Mac and it was recognized and allowed me to type in my password.  Then I re-paired the wireless keyboard and it's working so far.
