AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). For non-qualifying Macs you can try using Air Parrot.

Aug 4, 2015 10:55 PM in response to shyfromkansas cityby UGADog,Well, I don't think that should be too old, but don't know for sure. You may want to try System Preference > Displays > Display tab and see if there is an airplay option at the bottom of the window. If your MB Pro is not too old you should also see a checkbox for adding Airplay selection to the status bar (top right of screen).

Aug 4, 2015 11:09 PM in response to shyfromkansas cityby UGADog,★HelpfulWell, I don't know. The literature Use AirPlay to see your Mac screen on an HDTV - Apple Support says your MB Pro is too old. But it says my iMac (mid 2010) is too old too and it works. Maybe it is hit or miss.

Aug 5, 2015 1:58 PM in response to shyfromkansas cityby vazandrew,Airplay mirroring needs the 2011 or later model as it requires the newer processor in order to do video encoding. The alterntive is to use a 3rd party program like airparrot, results vary so use the trial first.
