Q: iTunes music genres in french

I would like to see the music genres that iTunes uses in the French language.  If anyone has their computer / iTunes set to French and could post a list of the music genre names, I would appreciate it.  Thanks

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10)

    Apple for Moi,

It might be quicker to temporarily set your own computer's iTunes to French, and look up what you want:

When you are done, change it back.

Good idea Ed.  My iTunes library is on an iMac, but I also have a MacBook Pro with only one song in iTunes.  I followed your advice on the MacBook Pro, and these are the genres that appear by default in French:

    Alternatif

    Bande originale

    Blues/R&B

    Classique

    Country

    Dance

    Easy listening

    Électronique

    Folk

    Hip-hop/Rap

    House

    Inclassable

    Industriel

    Jazz

    Livres et histoires

    Musique pour enfants

    Musique religieuse

    Musiques du monde

    New age

    Pop

    Rock

    Techno

    Trance

    Vacances

Looks like many are the same as in English ...

    Pomme4moi,

That is a good list!  As you may know, it is also possible in iTunes to create your own genre in iTunes, by typing text into the appropriate filed of the Get Info window.

For example, in my library (which is mainly in English), some other genres used for French language music are:

    Cajun

    Rap français

    Yé-Yé

    Zouk

Yes, thank you, I am aware that I can create my own genres.   I also wanted to see whether genres in French are expressed in feminine (la musique alternative) or masculine (le genre alternatif).  Now I see that it is the latter ...

    Pomme4moi,

OK, that sounds good.  "Alternatif" in the masculine seems to be pretty standard.  For example, here is the main genre list from Archambault (Canada):
