Jul 24, 2015 11:24 AM in response to wmharveyby Eric Root,Is this the Calculator application or the Calculator widget? If it is the widget, it will always default to the Dashboard space.

Jul 24, 2015 1:05 PM in response to Eric Rootby wmharvey,i'm not positive, but i think it's the application. 'about calculator' tells me it's Version 10.8 (123). i've been using it since i got my mac mini in 2009. on selecting it, it always became active and sat on top of whatever window i had last selected. i just retested selecting the calculator after selecting 15 applications i use a lot, and the only applications for which calculator didn't work as expected were Evernote and Safari:
i selected Pages, then Calculator, then Evernote, then Calculator. result: Calculator on top of Pages. expected: Calculator on top of Evernote.
i selected Spotify, then Calculator, then Safari, then Calculator. result: Calculator on top of Spotify. expected: Calculator on top of Safari.
maybe there's a problem with respect to just Evernote and Safari?
thanks for answering.

Aug 5, 2015 9:59 AM in response to wmharveyby wmharvey,in my last post i gave a detailed, reproducible description of what appears to be an os x error or an error in Evernote and Safari.
no one has responded. am i going to get any help on this problem from the support communities, or is it going to be another call to apple?

Aug 5, 2015 11:13 AM in response to wmharveyby sberman,Use Mission Control. That seems to be what it's designed for.

Aug 5, 2015 12:48 PM in response to sbermanby wmharvey,if, instead of using the Dock or Command-Tab to switch applications, i use Mission Control, i still get the same result:
the Calculator appears on top of an unintended application instead of on top of the intended application, that is, the application showing some numbers that, for example, i want to put in the calculator to get a sum.
two posts ago i went into a test case that, at least on my mac, fails. in that post, when i say 'i selected Pages, then Calculator, then Evernote, then Calculator', for example, it doesn't matter whether i use Mission Control or another method to switch between applications. the test always fails.
sberman, did you actually try the test case i provided to see if you could reproduce the problem?

No, and I have no plans to try it. You mention some apps that I do not have and do not intend to obtain.
I read your post and saw the "... is it going to be another call to Apple?" part. I thought I would take one shot at helping you before recommending this latter approach.
Good luck.

Aug 14, 2015 8:56 AM in response to wmharveyby wmharvey, here's my final post on this problem.
i spoke on the phone to apple support's 'dave' on 2015-8-14. we narrowed the problem down to occurring only with Safari and Evernote when they are in Full Screen Mode. dave is reporting this as a bug.
