Q: iTunes opening automatically

I have seen other people are having this problem, by the way.

This is seriously irritating, because iTunes is opening randomly, but not only that but also it's like something is hitting "play" without any clear pattern and that is what is irritating, but even worse it's suspicious (i'll have to check later if it's malware because I don't really have the cash for anti-virus right now and I'm not so sure about the freeware virus scanners...)

So, to try to fix it, this is what came up...

=Forget all remotes: (Didn't work)

=Turn off bluetooth: (Didn't work)

=Turn off sharing: (Didn't work)

=Suspend process "iTunes Helper": (Didn't work)

The extreme I had to go to was to set iTunes to "No Access" under "Sharing and Permissions".

If you can explain what's happening, rule out these:

=iPod/iPhone set to Wi-Fi sync (nope, it's off and even if it was on, why is it forcing it to play/pause at random? It's not a remote!)

=Other software is making it run (unlikely, because I don't have anything of that kind)

=Item is in "login items" (I removed everything from it and it wasn't there to begin with)

=Type in "msconfig" in Command Prompt and uncheck "iTunes" from startup items (I'm on a Mac!!)

Until an explanation or fix can be made, iTunes will have to remain under "No Access"... :/

    I had the same problem.

Solved it by terminating the process "iTunesHelper" via 'Activity Monitor' and then removing the same process from the login dock

Link: Use Activity Monitor on your Mac - Apple Support

    Two steps:

    Step One:

    Go to "Finder"

Click "Applications" on the left sidebar

Scroll to "Utilities" and double click

Sort processes by name by clicking the header bar

    Find "iTunesHelper"

    Click to highlight

    Request to terminate/remove

    Click ok

    Step Two:

Make sure you're logged in to the admin account for the computer

    Open "System Preferences" icon menu

    Click "Users and Groups"

Click on the "Login Items" (It's a radio button tab next to the "password" option)

Highlight "iTuneshelper" to select it.  DO NOT CLICK THE CHECKBOX TO HIDE THE PROCESS

Once process is highlighted, select the minus symbol " -- " (it's the one next to the plus "+" symbol, below the checkboxes that you shouldn't click)

On some machines, a pop up box will appear and ask you if you really want to terminate this process.

    Click ok to terminate.

Problem solved.  No more conference calls will be interrupted!
