Q: Handoff isn't working (Rest of continuity - yes)

Hello,

I have a problem with Handoff between my Macbook Air (2013) and my iPhone 6. It was working perfectly, but one time it just stopped. I've read many of posts on the Internet about fixing it but it simply doesn't for me. SMS are working on my Mac and i can make and answer calls on my Mac. Just the icon of apps like messages or safari doesn't show up on mac and iphone. I tried everything - relogging, restarting, switching toggles. I am pretty exhausted of this. I'm sure that you can help me.

Handoff is not yet completely reliable, and any improvement may only be temporary. Test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Back up all data before making any changes.

    1. If Handoff has never worked, verify that the Mac is capable of using it. Hold down the option key and select System Information... from the Apple menu. In the System Information window, select Bluetooth from the list on the left. Near the top of the summary of "Hardware, Features, and Settings," you should see this line:

              Handoff Supported: Yes

In rare cases, you might not see that indication, even though you have one of the models that is supposed to support Handoff. That could happen because of a hardware fault or a corrupt OS X installation.

    2. Follow the instructions in this support article. All the devices using Handoff must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. If the Mac also has an Ethernet connection, disconnect the Ethernet cable.

    3. If Handoff still doesn't work, on the mobile device, turn Handoff off and back on as directed in the support article. On the Mac, turn Bluetooth off and back on. You might have to restart a mobile device to get it working.

    4. If you've activated two-step verification for your Apple ID, you'll need to generate an app-specific password and use it, rather than the original account password, when prompted for your iCloud password.

    5. No Continuity feature will work if either of the devices is connected to a VPN.

    6. Triple-click the line below on this page to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C:

    /var/db/CoreDuet

    In the Finder, select

              Go Go to Folder...

from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

A folder named "CoreDuet" may open, containing one or more files with names beginning in "coreduetd." Move those files to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Restart the computer.

Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.

I was having issues with handoff not working.  I was able to get working again by restarting my 2015 MBPr.  I do have a question though.  How does two step verification affect handoff?  I only ask, because I was thinking of enabling it, but, I don't want to if it causes issues for handoff.

Thank you Linc... After moving around different possible solution I tried yours and with the first try of step 6 it worked for 1 time. But when I restarted I couldn't make it work again.

Don't know what's wrong again, also what I observed, the three files "coreduetd.db*" can't be deleted permanently no matter what I do, it ends up in "trash" and if I delete from there it ends up in the original location, even though I gave my admin password both the times.

Also I tried to move those three files in a different folder and then to trash.... but same result after I try to make it permanently deleted it goes back to the last folder before trash.

Also every time I tried to delete those files it says it's in use and can't be deleted, unless I open trash and manually delete it... then it goes back to the last folder location.

The only reason I gave so much information because I thought that part of the solution might be the way to go even though I could not make it permanent.

Note: for me also text in text out and call in are working from mac, missing part is call out !!!!

Appreciate your help and time !!!!
