Q: iTunes match/iCloud now not matching

Hi

I recently had to rebuild my iTunes library from the iTunes...xml file.

Thus: iTunes: How to re-create your iTunes library and playlists - Apple Support

I only got iTunes to recognise my music files by de-registering my workstation, logging ou,in and tuning iCload match off.

Then proceeded to fix; download artwork, move podcasts and Apple U to the correct place.

Match (or whatever its called these days) is now not working having turned it back in.

In fact, its claiming that my music files are all "ineligible". See screen image below.

Not that this is an example of a album bought from iTunes! So its not a music format issue!

Its the same for ALL music files previously matched using iTunes Match.

Help!

Thanks

    Hi,

You appear to have two entries, one is not eligible because it is MPEG-4 audio stream. The one with download symbol with icloud status of matched is the one in itunes match. This track can be streamed or downloaded.

Thanks Jim and ismc20 for the response.

Unfortunately I do not think its an ineligible audio stream. Below is an example of an mp3 file that is similarly failing.

(as I mentioned, all these files where being played in iTunes (and matched) before I had to rebuild my Library).

I've read carefully through the link that ismc20 provided, but noneof the solutions there seem to help.

BTW, the volume is definitely mounted and file exists (if I decode the file path.)

    HI,

The first track is a MPEG - 4 audio stream and the second is a MPEG audio stream. Such files are ineligible because they are audio streams. Look at the info on a matched track - you will see that it will include audio file in kind field.

As you have a matched version, you can delete the ineligible version.

Thanks for the assistance. esp Jim.

Jim's last response put me on the right track. As usual it is "user error".

When recovering my original iTunes Music Library.xml file, I misnamed <Location>

    <string>Volumes/Music/iTunes/Music/Claire%20Martin/He%20Never%20Mentioned%20Love /02%20Forget%20Me.mp3</string>

    ..should have been

    <string>file:///Volumes/Music/iTunes/Music/Claire%20Martin/He%20Never%20Mentione d%20Love/02%20Forget%20Me.mp3</string>

When I imported, <Kind> got renamed from MPEG audio stream to MPEG audio file .. .m4a files got named MPEG-4 steams and not AAC audio file etc

Now its importing, but not everything. However, with a bit of patience, I can fix this.

Once again, thanks for the assistance
