I understand that you are unable to play music that you recently downloaded via iTunes. Are there any icons on or around the songs that will not play? Try deleting just one of the songs that will not play and then download them again via the steps in the article below. If this solves the issue, repeat these steps for all of the songs that experience this behavior.
Delete music, movies, podcasts, and other content from your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch
Download past purchases from iTunes

Thanks for the reply. It's music downloaded from iTunes and all other sites, they don't play. I press play and it just does nothing and skips to the next song, but it looks exactly the same as the other songs that do work.
