Q: How do I, if possible, revert a photos library back to an iphoto library?

I migrated my iPhoto library to a photos library (the new 10.3 app). The new app for some reason does not work on my iMac. It frequently crashes upon running it and if it runs will not show my photos. Actually, sometimes it shows the thumbnails of some of my photos but if I try to view the actual photo it either crashes or nothing happen and then the thumbnail will disappear never to return. because of this I have gone back to iPhoto (had to re-download). After migrating to photos I made the mistake of deleting my iPhoto library. When I ran iPhoto for the first time after re-downloading it it did not give me the option to use the photos app library as my new iPhoto library (makes sense), so I tried to import the photos back in but it said I didn't have enough space on my hard drive. This makes me think it wanted to copy (duplicate) the photos in the photos library even though the .photolibrary is just a list of hard links to the actual picture file. My question is, how can I somehow get iPhoto to reference the photos  library so that I can access my images again in iPhoto? Can I convert the photo library to an iPhoto library or just get rid of the photos library and recreate a new iPhoto library with my images? Thank you.

Let me ask this. If I were to delete my photos library, which from what everyone is saying is just a group of hard links and not the actual photos on my hard drive, then even though technically all my photos would still be on my machine I would not ever be able to access them because the hard links were deleted?

Open the Photos library package with the Finder as shown in this screenshot:

Locate the Masters folder and move it to the Desktop. Open your new iPhoto library and drag the sub folders from the Masters folder, a few at a time) into the open iPhoto window to import them.  That will get all of your current Photos masters into the new iPhoto library.  You'll probably have to reorganize the photos as they will be in large events representing the subfolders that were imported.

When you're done with the import you can delete the Photos library package and the Master folder on the Desktop to free up disk space.
