Q: How to configure OSX Mavericks 10.9 Mail to Text Wrap / Word Wrap

Fresh install of 10.9 Mavericks.

Having trouble with OSX Mail where text is not text wrapping / word wrapping to the size of the window. This happens in the preview pane, as well as if an email is double clicked and opened in its own window. In order to read the email, you must scroll right to the end of each line. The text as in previous versions of the OS wrap to the size of the window so you do not have to scroll horizontally, only vertically.

I have upgraded a second computer with the same problem.

This seems to be for all accounts (Google Apps) as well as icloud accounts.

There are many new and annoying bugs in Mail that never used to be there.  One of the latest I see is the dates in a window flash madly in some weird date scrolling way.  Never seen that in Mail before Yosemite.  Search is the most irritating though.  Apple seem to think they can predict what I want to search for and get it VERY VERY WRONG.  Might work for some but not for me and I have been a Mail user for a long time.  Mail is getting worse rapidly and sadly this is like many other Apple applications.

Same problem here, however I run multiple IMAP, POP and Exchange email accounts through Mail, and it is the Exchange email account that is the only one having the issue, which may explain why Apple refuses to deal with it (i.e., Exchange is Microsoft).

I am able to read the entire message by clicking Reply or Forward--however needless to say this workaround in 2015 seems ridiculous.

I, too, only just created this account to point out that this is a bug and it's really annoying!

Apple people, please fix this! It can't be that hard to fix word wrap, but somehow I feel Mail is very buggy and not really at the forefront of apps that do get updated and enhanced continuously, like Safari.

Same issue here. Yosemite, all updates.

    Mails from an exchange account.

Same here. Only happens on occasional emails, but the text won't wrap and is impossible to read because sometimes it goes on for miles. I used to have this problem with other mail programs like years and years ago, but haven't run into it in ages. I thought everyone was pretty much using the same standards these days and therefore there shouldn't be any more issues with a mail program not being able to wrap text. Right. It is 2015, right? It's clearly a bug, so why won't Apple fix it?

Sadly it's just one of a dozen or so issues that have appeared in Mail under Yosemite.  Searching is the worst.  That has been stuffed up completely in mail now.  Every few days I come across another issue, something that no longer works, something that's no longer there like RSS, it goes on and on.  Protesting loudly on the Apple Feedback site seems to be all one can do but with the arrogance Apple are showing in Yosemite they are unlikely to be taking any notice.

Searching is terrible, especially compared to Outlook which has a great search feature. And another completely random problem I run into is Mac Mail won't save certain sent emails to the Sent folder. There are several long threads on here about this issue going back years, and, not surprisingly, no solution. Happened to me again last night. I sent a simple email reply to a group and everyone received it, but it's not in my Sent folder.

Maybe you could update your software to the current release?

To yosemite. I got to this thread through a google search for the issue, and several others in the thread have apparently as well bc they mention the same problem experienced with yosemite.

Beta testers of El Capitan report that the Mail header sorting problem (of Yosemite) is fixed. Let's hope the word wrap bug has also been addressed.
