Q: Dell C1760NW - Yosemite 10.10.4 Installation Issues
Hi All,
I have recently updated my iMac to 10.10.4. This was a clean install not an upgrade. I came to install the drivers for my C1760NW but I am unable to get the printer working..!
According to the Dell the C1760NW is supported on 10.10 and I have downloaded the following Driver -Printer_C1660_C1760_Installer_Dell_A03_MAC.dmg.
After running the installer I head to add the printer, the driver is not listed and OSX wants to set it up as a Generic PostScript Printer..
I have a feeling the installer is not compatible with Yosemite and is not installing the drivers correctly.
Any help would be appreciated, I will have to go back to Mavericks if I cannot resolve this as I am not going to buy a new Printer. I have phoned Dell support but they cannot figure out why this is happening and want to charge a silly sum to investigate this.
Thanks

Have to apologise MattMan55. The VM I was using to test the Dell installer was running 10.10.3. I thought it was 10.10.4 but I went to use it again for a different test and found it wasn't the latest. So I created a new VM running 10.10.4 and found that the Dell installer would not copy the two PPDs that did copy across in 10.10.3. It did create the Dell folder in /Library/Printers so I'm not sure why the PPDs didn't get copied to the Resources folder. But without them residing in this folder then you won't have your model in the Printers List.
So I think all you need is the PPD for the C1760, which you can copy to the Resources folder so that you can add the printer. Are you able to run the installer on another Mac running an older OS so that you can get the PPD? If not, then I may be able to email the file to you.
