As well as why you need to press the power button when all you have to do is hit return.

DesktopsWhen I pressed the power button while its on, it doesn't show this.
That is not a good practice. If you hold the power button a little too long, your Mac will do an uncontrolled Power-Off, which can cause directory corruption.
Use the other keyboard shortcuts already mentioned, such as Control-Eject, or choose Shutdown from the menu.
