Jul 21, 2015 1:28 PM in response to Ant of Arabiaby Argentinos,Powerbeats 2 Wireless with
a) iPhone 6 with latest iOS
b) iPad Air 1 with latest iOS
Beats updater shows that the most recent firmware 1.1.11 is already installed on the powerbeats.
Massive delay when watching videos. :-(

Aug 4, 2015 7:50 AM in response to jamieclarkeby mikegdiaz,I just bought the new Motorola Moto Surround bluetooth headset. Got them in the mail yesterday and HUGE delay in latest iOS release (non beta) on my iPhone 6.
Same for my iPad mini 2.
Delay is massive if i'm creating sound as a user (e.g. a simple piano app or keyboard clicks). Massive means 1+ seconds.
Delay is large when watching a movie (annoying audio lag compared to video).
Tried it on my Android phone and it has low or no delay. Nothing compared to what was seen in iOS.
COMON APPLE!

Aug 4, 2015 7:52 AM in response to mikegdiazby mikegdiaz,I should note -- not ALL bluetooth devices exhibit this. So there's clearly something more than just 'any bluetooth device on iOS.'
It's also NOT ALL stereo bluetooth devices. I have a cheapo stereo bluetooth receiver that does not have the problem.
Looks like it's something with some subset of ways to accomplish bluetooth transmission between the devices.

Aug 8, 2015 6:03 PM in response to jamieclarkeby mrrairai,TThe problem is the iPad uses Airplay instead of straight Bluetooth when sending the video sound to the headphones. That's why there is a delay.

Aug 16, 2015 12:58 AM in response to jamieclarkeby Ikuwaloveapple,This was the same issue I had as well. I had a pair of powerbeats 2 wireless for myself, then I went and bought a pair for my wife. Her pair for some reason wouldn't sync correctly to Apple devices. The sound wouldn't match the videos (peoples mouths would move but sound wouldn't match the timing) we try watching, whether it was YouTube, Netflix, or HBO Go. We tried hard reset the headphones ( plug them into charge, then press and hold both the power bottom and volume down button at the same time for 10 seconds. Nothing worked. Finally I called Apple,. They said to go online on a computer (not your tablet) type in beatsbydre.com/support . When you get to page there is an option in red lettering to update your beats headphones. click on that, then it will ask you to plug in your beats headphones into the computer using USB CONNECTION.(same charge cord that came with your Beats) if they are knockoffs they will not be detected!! Once real Beats headphones are detected, screen will pop up with picture of your Beats. And there will be an option showing there is an update for them!!! You download update and load it up!! This worked perfectly and right away, headphones were perfect again. I Love my PowerBeats 2 wireless, and now my wife will also!!!!

Aug 23, 2015 11:50 AM in response to Ant of Arabiaby Ant of Arabia,To give you an update I went to an Apple Service Centre, who replaced my bill... (which was basically brand new anyway) and alas I am having the same problem, I am speaking with Apple Support who advise me to go back into a service centre and repeat the process.

Sep 5, 2015 6:15 PM in response to Ant of Arabiaby jon8979,I don't know if it's been mentioned, but unless the transmitting device compensates for the audio latency by delaying the video, there will be lip sync issues unless both transmitter and receiver are using the aptX Low Latency codec, which reduces the audio delay to around 30 msec, which is tolerable. My iPod Touch 5th lacks it, so BT was useless for watching video the last time I tried it, as there was no compensation in software for the BT latency.
Is Apple using aptX Low Latency codec in any of their hardware? If not, does any of their software compensate?

Nov 17, 2015 11:12 PM in response to Ikuwaloveappleby EricTheMan,Hey guys,
I had the same issue with my powerbeats 2 and updating solved the problem. Not sure why it's not working for some others ...
Also I should mention that I don't have any problem with my iphone. Haven't tested it with my ipad yet.

Nov 28, 2015 11:10 PM in response to jamieclarkeby woodstocknick,It's not just Beats. It's the nature of Bluetooth. The audio has to be compressed and encoded before it is transmitted to the headphones, then decoded by the headphones and this introduces a lag. Anything more than around 100ms and you'll notice it with dialogue.
Some headphones do a quicker job with the decoding so the lag isn't as noticeable. I just got a pair of JBL Everest 700 and they sound great but the lag is terrible.
THe Sennheiser Urbanites have almost no lag, but I didn't like the way they fit.
The best is equipment that uses the low-latency aptX codec but you need it on both ends. As far as I know, Apple hasn't implemented aptX.
For now, the only solution is to use headphones that have a wired option.

Dec 2, 2015 4:19 PM in response to woodstocknickby eapelin,I agree with woodstocknick. It's the "nature" of Bluetooth. I don't know the technical specifics but from experience, I have had iPhone 4/4s/5s/6s, ipad, ipad 2 and all of them when it comes to Bluetooth headphones, or speakers the video and audio never syncs. No matter what brand. I've had jabra, plantronics, sony and I just bought these jbl in ear bt headphones and there is a video and audio sync delay.
Maybe Woodstock is right about the aptX codec, that's the first technical reason I've heard for this problem that makes sense.
I think it's rearing it's ugly head only now because more people are using BT headphones and speakers. For just music it's great. but for video and audio and them being in sync it *****. I don't even think the manufactures of headphones or speakers thinks its a problem because they only cater just the music listeners. Think about it, all Bluetooth speaker or headphone promotions are for listening to music. Not once have I seen anything related to watching videos with Bluetooth headphones or external speakers.
Nothing is being done because these manufacturers think everything is ok, since it plays music just fine.

Dec 8, 2015 2:01 PM in response to jamieclarkeby Mike D. Kelly,I have a Beats Studio Wireless and the audio is out of sync with an iPhone 6S Plus and a Gen 3 iPad, both of which have the latest version of iOS. However, the audio is in sync with my gen 1 ipad, which is on a much older version of iOS (6 or 7). The audio is also fine when paired with my Surface Pro 3. So it seems that the BT drivers on iOS 8 and above are a factor.

Dec 19, 2015 6:46 PM in response to jamieclarkeby TrueYears ,I Have a pair of DR-BTB200 there is no lag whatever on my android devices but there is notable delay/lag on my iPhone 6s. It's not just sic or video but the entire ios system. When while I type this the sound the keys make comes seconds after I've pressed them. It's not Bluetooth fault it's not your headphones fault. This is all apples fault why is it that my cheap Sony headphones work perfectly on my android phones but not with this iPhone 6s? I figured this would be s problem for cheap headphones like mine but $300+ beats headphones ? Come on apple fix this already

Feb 11, 2016 8:42 PM in response to jamieclarkeby SBenji.Bruno18,Hello,
I am very curious to know if anybody has found a solution to this problem. It looks like this post was started back in 2014 so I'm hoping there is fix someone has found out. Today I am still having this same problem with audio delay while watching videos. This has nothing to do with the beats headphones I am guessing but an issue with iPhone or apple products. I am using an iPhone 6 plus which I have synced to my car through bluetooth. Whenever I use the phones iPod or Spotify there is no issues at all while listening to music. But when I use YouTube or watch a video, which I've downloaded through iTunes, the audio is never in sync with the video. It looks like the audio is behind the video by about a half of a second. All of my software is up to date. When I use an auxiliary chord I do not have this issue at all. So it seems as though beats are not the only product that will have an issue with audio video delay so it is probably an issue with apples bluetooth connectivity. If anybody knows a solution to this problem any help at all would be very appreciated.
