Q: MBP 13" early 2015 suddenly lost ability to connect to 5GHz WIFI

It was happening over a few hours. First my connection would time out for a minute or so until not even wanting to connect to my home router. It was also picking up a lot less WIFI signals from the neighbourhood than usual.

Today at work I notice that I also can't connect to our 5 gHz network, but only the 2.4 gHz one.

I'm not sure what happened to my mac. I didn't not change any preferences, install new apps, or anything that might have changed the settings.

My region settings are correct, I have restarted after deleting com.apple.airport.preferences.plist, NetworkInterfaces.plist, and preferences.plist.

Any idea how I can restore 5 gHz capability?

Thanks

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch,Early 2015), OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)
