Mac OS X 10.10.3 and newer include Photos but won't automatically update iPhoto. If you'd like to go on using it in addition to or instead of switching to Photos, click here and try following the instructions.

After reading all the problems that Photo has, I am a pro/photographer, and we need files for customers, not by date. We have over 2,000 customers, so I use the Iphoto maverick app. Due to the need of changing the rest of my operating system I did the following:

    1. Open a PDF file in the time machine (or a external drive, or a USB portable drive)

2.- Copy all the photos in the individual files one by one (a big job)

    3.  After being sure that all the photos were saved, I erased them from IPhoto, (another time consuming job)  Left 20 photos to fool Photos. (And it did)

    4. I copied the maverick Iphoto program to a USB drive.

    5. Instaled Yosemite

6  Tried to open the Iphoto on the apps file. Was told that the update didn't exist.

    7. Copied the Iphoto app that I had saved on the USB to my mini mac.

    8. After installing I transfered all the files one by one (Huge time consuming)  I estimate it took over 7 hours to transfer al my files one by one.

    9. Started working on IPhoto like always.

    10. Bought a new computer with Linux, as it seems that Mac wants only the cloud bussines, or the home front. I think that when they decide to eliminate IPhoto for good, we will be able to work on Linux.(It looks easy)
