Aug 6, 2015 6:29 AM in response to sim61by Lakota29,★HelpfulThis happened to me this morning. Charged at 100%. Would not turn on. Read all these posts that said to hold the home and on button for 30 sec. It finally started back up. Hope this works for anyone else having this issue.

Aug 11, 2015 11:52 PM in response to Lakota29by ianmcm,My iphone 6 plus with iOS 8.4 suffered the same way yesterday. It turned itself off whilst in use browsing via wifi at home.
Recharged it for an hour (in case that was the problem) and used the reset start procedure, press and hold both buttons, and it turned on and worked - the power indicator was 100%.
Phone was working, but Wifi would not connect. Wifi slide button could not be moved to the on-position. Other slide buttons were ok.
Did a network reset and logged in and wifi worked.
The phone worked fine for one hour then turned itself off again. When turned back on the wifi would not connect.
Tried resets and power off/on over the next hour with phone on mains, with no luck.
The phone component works but no wifi. Wifi network is OK as other home devices are connected and running.
It seems it is an intermittent fault, maybe related to power, maybe wifi is a cause or a result, and symptom is it turns off in a random manner.
The symptom has increased in frequency of occurrence. Today the phone is off more than on, and no wifi possible under any scenarios.
No genius help shops where we live... iOS 9 maybe?

Aug 23, 2015 6:38 AM in response to IOSninjamovesby ffemt264,After wife's iPhone 5c died, wouldn't power back up for anything. Ended up doing a factory reset, but it works fine now!

Aug 24, 2015 10:28 AM in response to ifonfonby REEverett123,I had this same problem. I went to the Genius Bar twice! I had to take the phone back to factory reset after having installed the latest iOS. I lost all of my data, finally got my contacts back. The phone continued to get stuck in a "gray screen" mode. My second trip to the Genius Bar ended in a replacement iphone 6. Thanks for the 30 second tip it worked....so far!

Sep 1, 2015 10:14 AM in response to sim61by AN62,I didn't have this problem until I installed iOS 8.4.1. Since that time, I've experienced same problem twice but was able to fix in same manner as other users have described and it does take about 20-30 seconds before restart. Apple, this is a confirmed problem SO FIX IT!!!!!!!!

Well, let's see. Some 750,000,000 iPhones have been sold. I'm guessing that perhaps half have been updated to the latest IOS. In Q2-2015, they sold 61,200,000 iPhone-6 and 6+ units and, because of age, it's likely that almost all of them are at 8.4.1. How many problem reports are necessary to demonstrate a pattern?

Sep 11, 2015 5:09 AM in response to alyscallyby subbu_tnj,iPhone 6 sudden shut off and won't turn on.
Tried the following and none of them worked:
1. hold power and home button down for 30+ seconds
2. connect to iTunes and hold home button down for 30+ seconds
I am losing trust in Apple

Oct 1, 2015 3:00 AM in response to mlrv1974by kewilks,I just got an iPhone 6s 9/25 and plugged it in to charge last night. This morning it was shut down completely. I had to hold the start and home button for 30 seconds or so to turn it back on. Been using iphones since they first came out never seen this before. Not Good!

Oct 2, 2015 8:37 AM in response to kewilksby rogerisf,My iPhone 6s Plus has shut down randomly, 4x now, since I've received it on 9/25. The home button gets very warm, unusually hot even, when trying to restart the phone after it shuts off. It takes a few tries before it turns back on and for the home button to cool off. I paid $900+ after taxes for this latest and greatest iteration of the iPhone 6s Plus 64gb. My iPhone 6 Plus (sitting in my drawer) and previous iPhones didn't have this issue.
Very poor consumer experience for approx. a $1000 phone. Very dissatisfied.

Oct 2, 2015 8:17 PM in response to rogerisfby gail from maine,Take it back.....something isn't right. Get a replacement. If you bought a pair of jeans and found out there was a big rip in the bottom would you feel that you had a very poor customer service, or would you think you just got a bad pair of jeans in the lot.
Take it back. Millions of these were made. They can't all be absolutely perfect. Sorry yours wasn't one one of the perfect ones. When I got my very first iPad 1 it had some sort of issue with the charging port. I was majorly bummed. But, sent it back, got a replacement, and it still is working great to this day....
Best of luck,
GB
