Q: Remove a network

I did a search on how to delete a network and found this answer:

Click on System Preferences (gear icon) on the dock and open Network

Click on Airport on the left to highlight it and click Advanced at the lower right

Click the network you want to delete and then click the - (minus) button at the bottom of the connection list

Click Apply

I did all this and the network I want to delete still shows as a choice when I click the wi-fi networks icon on the toolbar.

I restarted the mac also. It still showed up. I am connecting to the network I want, but if I put a check next to the network I wanted to delete it shows that it still connects. Then I check airport utility and it says I'm connected to the network I do want. Strange.

Is there a way to erase it as a choice?

Thanks
