Q: 10.10.x Bluetooth Mouse Stutter / Lag / Jittering

I recently bought a Mircosoft bluetooth 4.0 designer mouse to pair with my MBP 2015 13inch.

The mbp paired well with the bluetooth mouse and even named it correctly.

OSX version: 10.10.4 Yosemite

However, there was a noticeable lag and stuttering in the mouse movements.

I setup an online chat with Apple support and they told me it might be a microsoft mouse/driver problem? (what?)

I am convinced this issue is a Yosemite or Macbook problem.

Here's the reason why:

  1. No mouse lag issue when wifi is turned off (serious deal-breaker)
  2. No mouse lag issue when wifi is connected to 5ghz wireless network. (perhaps wifi 2.4ghz interfere with bluetooth? what?!)
  3. No mouse lag issue when using a usb mouse with wifi turned on
  4. Bluetooth mouse works properly with other devices (windows laptop)

I don't understand why this isn't an apple issue.

Anyone has any fixes or ideas ?

Thank you.

    Got the same Problem.

    MBP Retina 15 with AMD.

I've got the Logitech MX Master.

I wonder why the Razer Orochi works pretty well (Bluetooth).

I'm about ready to throw this darn thing out the window.  It IS a macbook problem.  I have a brand new laptop, macbook pro retina, not even a month old, and a brand new magic mouse.  I have tried every solution I could find on the website and the darn thing won't stop lagging and disconnecting.  Apple support could not help me either.  This is ridiculous!!

Someone from Apple please take notice and fix the problem!!!

I tested a 5GHz WLAN Network and my Bluetooth is working great.

Switched to 2,4 GHZ and the pain begins...

    Same here.

I use Microsoft Bluetooth 'Designer Mouse' + MBP Retina early 2015 + OS X 10.10.4

It keeps skipping and stuttering ALL THE TIME.

Apple you really need to fix this..!!!

I am having the same issue with my brand new (couple weeks old) MBP Retina and the new MX Anywhere 2. Works just fine when wifi is turned off, but starts lagging uncontrollably when wifi is on.

I have the same problem with my newly bought 13" MBP. Connected with my Logitech MX Master, in 5.0GHz Wi-Fi, works fine, in 2.4GHz Wi-Fi or USB dongle connection, *****. It hinders the use of my computer so much. I tried the mouse on my tablet, my phone, another 13" MBA I owned, a 15" MBP demo in Apple Store, and they all don't have the problem. I have got an exchange for a brand new 13" MBP for this reason, and it doesn't solve it. By these testing, I assume this is not a Macbook problem, but more specifically, a 13" MBP problem. APPLE, FIX THAT, IT IS RIDICULOUS! This should be a fundamental yet extremely essential feature of a computer that you should not go wrong!

In addition, I also assume that is not a problem with OSX but more likely a hardware design issue.

Since I installed Windows 10 using Bootcamp onto my MBP and the same issue was encountered.

I really won't consider another model of Macbook nor other brand as only 13" MBP fits all my needs. But it is so disappointing with this annoying problem which should not occur in such a great brand like Apple.

OK, I have tested like you did.

After turn off wifi, the mouse works like charm no any stutter issue at all but anyone can work with wifi shut off all the time..?!

I'm having the same problem (MacBook Mid-2015 + Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Mouse). Hope Apple will fix it soon.

Maybe it's related to "Bluetooth Collaboration" option within the Bluetooth driver, because some people said turning that option on/off in Windows (Boot Camp) could fix bluetooth mouse lag problem, but under Mac OS X we cannot change that.

Anyone tried to use Microsoft Designer or any other Bluetooth mouse in El Capitan public beta (with 2.4GHz wifi enabled)? I'll try my luck. If it still doesn't work, at least I can report a bug to Apple, and pray for a fix.

Same problem here. With wifi off it works like it should. Wifi on brings terrible lag.

Oh crap, the same problem as with my MPB 13" + Microsoft Designer Mouse. If not for AutoCAD, I won't purchase this!

    Hello

    Having the same issue

    - Logitech MX Master (Bluetooth 4.0)

    - Apple Macbook Pro 13" Retina 256GB Model 2015 edition

    - Wifi 2.4GHz

    - When WiFi is on - mouse lags stutters jumps around (seems worse when data is being transmitted) i.e run a speedtest or download something

    - When WiFi is off (no issue at all)

The problem is clearly a firmware or design issue on the Macbook Pro Retina 13" 256GB edition.
