Q: 30" Cinema Display Cuts Out Over Mini Display

Hi All,

I have a 30" Apple Cinema Display that works fine when plugged into my 2012 Mac Mini via the mini display port using the Apple mini display port to DVI adapter.

However when the screen is plugged into my WD Thunderbolt Duo creating a daisy chain with the screen being the last in the two stage chain, the screen cuts out intermittently.

Has anyone got any ideas on how to fix this or am I resigned to getting a new screen or Mac? I hope not!

Thanks in advance,

Joe

    2. How do I connect my Mini DisplayPort monitor or monitor using a Mini DisplayPort adapter to my Thunderbolt-equipped Mac when I have other Thunderbolt devices connected?

When connecting a Mini DisplayPort display or a display using a Mini DisplayPort adapter to a Thunderbolt peripheral (except as described in question 24), make sure the display is connected at the end of the Thunderbolt chain. You can use only one Mini DisplayPort device in the Thunderbolt chain.

Systems with more than one Thunderbolt port, like an iMac, can have more than one Mini DisplayPort monitor or monitor connected with a Mini DisplayPort adapter connected as each Thunderbolt port can support one Mini DisplayPort display.

Thanks for pointing that info out.

I've tested the same daisy chain set up as stated above with a Dell U2715H monitor and it worked fine. Do you still think it's a WD issue or is it more likely a Mac issue?
