Aug 13, 2015 5:23 AM in response to Loner Tby billygoat,Just read that Bootcamp for Windows 10 was released:
http://9to5mac.com/2015/08/13/boot-camp-windows-10-compatibility/
Anyone know if this adds Bluetooth support for Windows 8.1 on the 12" Retina and/or Windows 10?
TIA

Aug 13, 2015 6:02 AM in response to Loner Tby billygoat,Thanks LT but I don't see an answer to my question.
I'd prefer not to update to Windows 10 unless I absolutely need to in order to get Bluetooth support for Windows on my 12" Retina. I checked the Apple Software Updater in Windows this morning and there is no Bootcamp update there. So my questions are:
1. If I update to Windows 10 do I get Bluetooth in Windows on the 12" Retina?
2. If I stick with Windows 8.1 do I get Bluetooth in Windows on the 12" Retina?
3. Has Apple still not corrected Bluetooth in Windows for the 12" Retina and I am SOL no matter what I do?

Aug 13, 2015 6:11 AM in response to Loner Tby billygoat,Thanks LT!
So let me make sure I understand:
1. If I update to Windows 10 right now I get Bluetooth in Windows on my 12" Retina (praying this is true!)
2. If I try the drivers for Windows 10 under Windows 8.1 I can do the community a service and see if they work? If so, can you give me a link those updates and I'll try it for everyone right now?
Thanks! -
Aug 13, 2015 6:16 AM in response to billygoatby Loner T,Due to the way Apple now distributes updates (ESD), you either need to see this (which is dependent on the running OS)
or you need to use https://github.com/timsutton/brigadier to download the W10 drivers on W8.1.
Try the first method using Apple Software Update.

Aug 13, 2015 6:36 AM in response to Loner Tby billygoat,I looked at that website and it looks very involved to download those drivers, beyond my capabilities.
But....if I update to Windows 10 right now I get Bluetooth in Windows right now on my 12" Retina MacBook, yes? Just want to be 100% sure before I go through the whole update process.
TIA

Aug 13, 2015 6:40 AM in response to billygoatby Loner T,Yes, but I suggest you wait a day or two. There are some installation issues with the W10 update.

Aug 13, 2015 6:47 AM in response to Loner Tby billygoat,One more thing (sorry) I can just update to Windows 10 in Windows on the MacBook, yes? In other words, I don't need to go through the Mac side at all, no thumb drives and raw image files and all that stuff, right?

Aug 13, 2015 7:03 AM in response to Loner Tby billygoat,One more thing (sorry) I can just update to Windows 10 in Windows on the MacBook, yes? In other words, I don't need to go through the Mac side at all, no thumb drives and raw image files and all that time consuming stuff, right? I just update to 10 in Windows, launch the Apple Software Updater app in Windows, and then I'm running Windows 10 with Bluetooth and that's that? Or do I need to do some convoluted painful thing through Bootcamp on the Mac side again?

Aug 13, 2015 8:11 AM in response to billygoatby Loner T,Yes, you can directly update to W10 from W8.1 without using BCA. Once you have W10 running, the updated drivers should be available through Apple Software Update from the W10 side.

Aug 13, 2015 8:15 AM in response to Loner Tby billygoat,I just found this, looks like it is Bootcamp software for Windows that was updated just yesterday:
Boot Camp Support Software 5.1.5769
Should I try installing that in Windows 8.1 before I try upgrading to Windows 10 or it wouldn't make a difference? Confused between what the Apple Software Updater app in Windows would provide vs. this file that they just released yesterday. Any thoughts?
