Aug 13, 2015 11:04 AM in response to Grassy1979by Phillip Breske,★HelpfulThe original file is never directly changed by Aperture, so none of the keywords, captions, titles, etc will be saved with the original files. However, most of the alternative applications can import your Aperture library and will attempt to convert Aperture's metadata to their own format. I've no experience with Lightroom, but I know that Capture One Pro will import an Aperture library and maintain keywords and other IPTC data where possible. Even then, these applications are usually designed to not make any changes to the original files, so any metadata added by another app may or may not be transferrable to any other app you may switch to in the future. Transferring the library in this manner may or may not accurately include your adjustments, so be ready for some less than pretty images after the transfer.
If, on the other hand, you Export your images from Aperture as anything other than the "original" RAW or JPEG files, you can elect to maintain the Aperture metadata along with the exported files. Doing this for every file in a large library would take a very long time and eat lots of disk space, as it effectively doubles (depending on the compassion of the exported files) the size of your library.

Aug 13, 2015 11:11 AM in response to Grassy1979by Terence Devlin,★HelpfulLightroom certainly does. But, as always, make a test library and try migrate that first.
Exporting certainly will write the metadata to the files, as long as you set up your export pre-set.
