Q: iOS 8.4 slow wake on iPad Air 2

After upgrading to iOS 8.4, I noticed that there is a 1-2 second delay before the screen turns on after waking it up.  This generally happens if my iPad has been locked for a few minutes and I'm certain that this wasn't present in iOS 8.3.  Has anyone else noticed this behavior?  I'm going to submit a bug report to Apple, but wanted to reach out to the community first...

Below the update it says what's in it, at a quick glance I only saw fixes for the Music app.

Yes, I saw the changelog...but changelogs almost never contain a complete tally of everything that was changed or corrected. I don't even use the Music app (no music whatsoever on any of my own personal devices) so fixes to that don't really affect me. Hopefully, others with the rotational issue will be able to verify if it's been corrected or not.

I don't think the slow wakeup and rotation problems were even addressed.

While there is still time if it's still available enjoy the free Music offer.

You can quite easily test the rotational issue. You need an iPad Air 2 to test (any model will do).

    1. *Unlock screen rotation under Control Center*

    2. Enable "Reduce Motion" (turn the slider ON) under Settings/General/Accessibility

    3. Lock the iPad using the Sleep/Wake switch (if you have a Smart Cover on the device, leave the cover opened)

    4. Wait a full 20 seconds

    5. Unlock the iPad using the Sleep/Wake switch or Home button (any orientation is fine) *use only the sleep/wake switch or Home button*. If you wake the device using a Smart Cover, the rotational issue does not materialize

    6. Rotate the device back and forth between portrait/landscape/portrait/landscape (etc)

If the screen rotates properly, the bug has been resolved under iOS 8.4.1

If the screen does not rotate properly, the bug has not been resolved in iOS 8.4.1

AAgreed by me and it goes without saying that .1 only addresses music 1 and music 2.

i Did check once again and the wake up time is most definitely faster With .1, keeping in mind I did not have rotaitional issues.

ipad air 2, 128 gig, wi-fI, when updating to .1 and music 1, music 2 iPad was locked in landscape mode as I most always have it.

rotaional issues did not happen to me. I can still lock and unlock with both iPhone 5 and my iPad With music 1, music 2 & .1

i am so sorry not to correct the spelling and caps and wrong words but I am so tired of the iPad doing whatever it wants to in this area, including subtitit using the f word for other words I really cant do it anymore.

Do you mean the slow wake issue or the rotational issue?

If you could, please test the rotational issue as described in my post above.

Please test the rotational issue as I mentioned immediately above your post (you posted only one minute after I did so you may have missed it)

Ok, rotation is normal. I can lock screen in either mode lr leave it unlocked.

however, the spelling, caps, word substitution has gotten grossly worse.

perhaps, all effort is going to the new iPad to make sure it comes out right. If not, apple make go boom.

after carefully typing, above is what happens, extremely time consuming.

speed of wake up is faster, again, nothing to compare it to.

    sorry.

    Thanks for testing.

The double caps and other typing & formatting issues you are seeing in this forum are problems with the forum software used here. (Jive forum software)

I Just read about security content in 8.4.1. All this may be slowing the wake up. It seems as though apple is having problems with security.

the fixes made in addition to the music bloat has slowed it down.

since the updates, my iPad has crashed more than ever before. It just crashed on one of the most stable apps I have.

i Have never jailbroken or used cydia, ever, on any Apple product I've owned so that is not the reason.

All the issues pointed out in this thread still exist. None of them have been fixed.

    Slow wake from homebutton

    glitches with rotation

slowness and glitches with 5 finger pinch gesture
