    Hi everyone

I just had the same error yesterday and as was saying previously Ekimalito, having such a bug from so many people all of a sudden means that it comes from a early update of something. Also, it sounds hard to believe that "applessd.sys" could be a Windows file, thus something must be wrong on Apple side.

Hence, the most logical reason to me sounds likes it comes from Bootcamp itself. I guess that you guys also have been into Bootcamp and choose the "Download the latest Bootcamp version" option to create your bootable Windows stick. This could explain where this very new crappy update come from. It could also mean that it could work with an older version of Bootcamp. From what I recall, to do so you must first create a bootable windows stick (with Unetbootin for instance) and then copy directly at the root of the stick all Bootcamp files (from an older unzipped version).

I will try tonight (i'm in Brussel so I don't know what time is it for you guys), if someone feels keen on trying before let us know!

    Hope this will help

Having the same problem with a 2012 Mac Min running Yosemite.

I had previously installed Windows 10 using Bootcamp - no problem.

I then removed the Windows partition using Bootcamp so that I could reinstall my licensed Windows 7 Home Prem. (I want to register for Windows 10).

I went through the usual Bootcamp steps; created a bootable USB drive, etc. But when it went to start Windows 7 for the first time I got the applessd.sys digital signature error.

I tried rebooting Windows using F8 and tried all options from Safe Mode through to disabling digital signature verification options.

These didn't work - and I got the blue screen of death.

I suspect this needs a fix by Apple - an update to Bootcamp. Hopefully soon.

Same issue, as I said in the other thread. Neither Apple nor MS seem to have a clue. Very upset, as now, after trying to delete the crappy partition, it is gone (gave an error, but is still gone), and now I booted up my mac to a back "No bootable device. Insert startup disk" screen.
Rebooting and option key worked, but I"m worried about  this and the number of times I had to reboot using the power key because of this problem. Don't want it to happen every time I boot.

Did this just break my mac???

If anyone on this thread has AppleCare, please call Apple Tech Support and show them the bootcamp.xml snippet of AppleSSD.sys and ask them to get the Bootcamp engineers to update the package with a valid signature.

    Bug# 22285185 - Bootcamp 6.x and AppleSSD.sys signature has been filed.

I will extract an older AppleSSD.sys from a W8.1 Mac and post a dropbox link shortly.

@Loner T: I have followed your request and contacted Apple through my AppleCare. They asked me to make a backup of my iMac, format it and retry the bootcamp procedure. This test must be done before they send reports to engineer. The women in charge was the suppervisor of the team and according to her, it was the first time they encouter this problem.

Notes that it's the French/Belgium AppleCare, thus it might be different fro mone coutry or another.

I'll do the formating and I will also try to use an aloder version of Bootcamp as said in my previous mail

And how it helps with unsigned driver? Bootcamp assistant never takes drivers from disk, it's always download it from apple website when preparing boot disc or usb stick. Maybe you should also reboot your wifi router too ?

It won't helps at all but they must follow this procedure like a checklist before sending reports to engineers.

AppleCare UK should be aware of the problem as I contacted them yesterday and they told me it was a Microsoft problem.  (See earlier on in this thread, page 3/4).  I will try them again and give them the information you suggest Loner T. By the way, I am not going to format my MAC if they ask me to do that!

What is so frustrating is I don't even want to stay on Windows 7; I happen to have a licence from a PC that is no longer in use and I want to use it to put Windows 10 on my MAC.  There was a post with a link to an Apple announcement earlier on in this thread, which said about them dropping support for Windows 7 in Bootcamp.  But it seems bad if they have simply done it without giving people some time to prepare for it. Hopefully the signature problem is a genuine problem and not just Apple withdrawing support so soon, otherwise they could well refuse to fix it.

I'll post back when I can and thanks to Loner T for offering to grab an older version of the APPLESSD.SYS file.  We can then just copy it to the bootable USB we've all already made and it should then install as part of the bootcamp process.

On the USB flash drive,Bootcamp created a folder called $WINPe$ or something where it puts the apple drivers.

I removed the folder that was called AppleSSD...... something (don't have the folder left so can really remember the name)

    And now my installation works.

Haven't noticed anything diffent in windows without the applessd.sys driver, so not sure what it does.

    Best regards

There is no older version of AppleSSD.sys in any BC driver packages under BC 5.1 that I have found. The WinPEDriver is the PreBoot Windows environment.

.Xcile Please also check if the same driver exists in the Apple folder under Drivers. It does not exist for a MacBook 8,1.

Hi all, I found a solution:

    1. Restart, boot to Mac OSX
    2. Install the trial of Paragon NTFS.  Restart and boot to Mac OSX again.
    3. Navigate to BOOTCAMP/Windows/System32/Drivers
    4. DELETE AppleSSD.sys
    5. Restart and boot to Windows

Windows will continue and complete the install.  Just worked for me on a Macbook Air (early 2014).,

    Cheers!

I erased the folder AppleSSD64 from the Apple USB on my MacOS. I retried doing the installation process and it all went smooth. I still need to install the drivers for BootCamp as the Windows Partition has no drivers at all for anything (Wifi, Bluetooth and all).

    SUCCESS!

Deleting the whole Driver applessd.inf, .cat, .sys files on Windows partition after installing Paragon NTFS and Windows 7 moves on. Installation complete now on my Retina 15.
