Q: How do I use my Final Cut Pro 10.0.9 after updating to OSX

After updating my Mac to OSX I can no longer use my FCP version 10.0.9. Do I have to pay full price to purchase the latest version or is there an upgrade available?

Final Cut Pro X, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

Just authenticate with the same Apple ID you used to buy FCP X originally and you will be able to update without charge.

As a little addendum to what Russ said: the current version is 10.2.1, and since 10.1 (which is almost two years old itself) there are important differences from the older 10.0.*. You should read about libraries and updating:

Thank you this helped me. I switched from Windows with Adobe premiere to a Mac with FCP and am still struggling. I know this is simple but it may help others. It was as simple as going to the App store and under "purchased" locating FCP and installing. Obviously it had been a while since I've used it.

I will definitely do that. Thanks for the advice. I switched from Windows with Adobe premiere to a Mac with FCP and am still struggling. I'm sure I just need to keep at it and do more projects.
