    Hello Revejakta,

I'm sorry to hear you are having this issue with your iPad. If you are not hearing any headphone audio from your iPad, you may want to first check the basic settings detailed in these articles (apologies if you have already see them or done so):

If your headset isn't working - Apple Support

If you hear no sound or distorted sound from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch speaker - Apple Support

If you continue having issues with a core function like audio and the issue appears to be isolated to software, you may want to make sure you have a current up-to-data backup of your data, then try reinstalling a fresh copy of the OS as outlined in the following article (the article is aimed at a slightly different issue, but the steps are also useful for more general OS issues):

If your device turns on but gets stuck during start up

You might see the Apple logo or a red or blue screen for a long time during start up. Try these steps:

    1. Connect your device to a computer and open iTunes. If you don't have a computer, you can borrow one, or go to an Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider for help.
    2. While your device is connected, force it to restart. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. Don't release when you see the Apple logo. Keep holding until you see the Recovery mode screen.
    3. When you get the option to restore or update, choose Update. iTunes will try to reinstall iOS without erasing your data.

iTunes will download the software for your device. If it takes more than 15 minutes, your device will exit recovery mode and you'll need to repeat steps 2 and 3 again.

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or doesn't turn on - Apple Support

    Regards

"Have no sound in earphones on iPad." OK, I understand this part.

"Have installed backup on identical unit, and the problems seems to follow the user."  I don't follow this one. Have you installed another set of earphones on the same iPad or have connected the same earphones on a different iPad?

Please explain more so I can help you.

I have installed a backup of the current user on a different, but identical and working iPad.

EArphones doesn't work on either iPads for the current user.

So you restored an iPad using a backup from a different iPad, is that correct? I would not think that that would mute the earphones, in fact the only way I know to mute the earphones is by the side switch if set to do so or by turning down the volume. Have you tried the earphones on a totally different device like a computer or phone?

THis is very simple, but difficult to explain;-)

I am trying to assist an elderly couple (89&91). She's got working earphones, he's not.

SHe doesn't need earphones, he does.

I've swapped the physical iPads by backup through iCloud.

REsult: She's got working earphones, he's not.

PS! I'm using the same set of earphones on both devices.

THis makes me sure it is softwarerelated, and I was hoping it could be an easy fix through

some settings I'm not aware of.

NExt step I'll guess is resetting OS, but this might be a bit complicated(?) since I don't

have full access to the units.

I think your only options are to do the full backup and restore.

Use iTunes to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support
