Q: iPad says 11.8gb used but when I add the data from the apps I only get 4gb

I Have a ipad 3, i got it when they first came out so it is somewhat old. For awhile now it's been telling me storage is full so I went to settings-usage-data usage, and added all the apps up I only get 4gb and ios says 11.8gb is used. im on iOS 8.0.2.

In addition to the junk in Other don't forget that the iOS itself takes space and also that a 16 GB flash drive is never 16 GBs, same for phones. You can clear most of the Other by a backup and restore but it takes about an hour to do. If you have never done this the Other is bound to be quite large.

THe flash actually is 16gb but only 12ish is available because the rest is takes by the os files. I'll hook my IPad up to a computer today and see ifi have around 6gb of "other". I'll give a update when I'm done.
