Q: MacBook Air and Samsung Plasma TV

We have an older (Series 5) Samsung plasma TV on the wall of our conference room. We have very mixed results using it for presentations from our fleet of 13" MacBook Airs. Some can use miniport-to-VGA only, some can use miniport-to-HDMI only, some don't work with either. Also, sometimes we get a picture but can only fix the screen resolution by mirroring the displays. Other machines work fine with extended display. We can't isolate it to a model or operating system version.

No problems at all with Windows machines using either VGA or HDMI.

Samsung takes the position that if it works reliably with Windows computers then it's an Apple issue.

Any ideas? Is it some compatibility issue between Apple and Samsung? Would we not experience the issue with a different brand or model display? This is driving me crazy.

Thanks.

David
