Q: hi i cant redeem a itunes gift. when i go to redeem it tells me to put in code but the gift thats been sent via email has no code

hi I cant seem to redeem a iTunes gift that's been sent to me via email. it says to put in code but there isn't one on the gift. on the email I received there's a box that says to redeem click on it, I clicked on it then it says to down load iTunes. I did that and still nothing. please help.

    It sounds like you're trying to redeem and download an iTunes Store gift, and you have already followed the instructions in the email and downloaded iTunes. 

     

    Next, I would recommend checking your purchases section in iTunes in case the gift has been redeemed and is ready to be downloaded. 

     

    You can follow these steps to try and download the item you received as a gift:

     

    Download past purchases - Apple Support

     

    If you do not see the item you were gifted in the purchased list, it may still need to be redeemed after all. You can use the method in this article to find and use the redemption code in the email you received:

    Hi Jeremy,

     

    I gifted (email) for my sister this Christmas 2014 we ran into the same problem you have described the "FIX" for.After numerous emails to Apple support she got no resolve from them whatsoever. I had already discovered the "CODE" embedded in the hyper-link and was able to get the gift into her account.

     

    KUDOS to you for posting the resolve that APPLE SUPPORT COULD NOT DO!

    Thank you! I used your method to redeem my gift card. I had the additional problem of being sent to a download page after I clicked "Redeem Now" in the email. After reading your advice I tried again and noticed that the code appeared for a split second before redirecting to the download page. I had to quickly take a screenshot of the code and then type that into the itunes redeem box. Thanks itunes for making everything so easy!

    In your email, place your cursor over the "Redeem Now" button without clicking. Look in your browser for where it displays the URL of hyperlinks your cursor is on which you are about to click on. In that URL is a string of uppercase letters. Write these down. Open iTunes. Click on iTunes Store. Go to the bottom of the screen, and under "Manage" click on "Redeem." Where it says "You can also enter your code manually" type in the string of uppercase letters you wrote down from the hyperlink in your browser. Hit "enter." Enjoy your gift. Wonder why this doesn't "just work" without all the rigamarole.

    This worked for me. First time using Itunes because my sister gifted a show to me. Super frustrating. Just kept bringing me to download page for itunes. I used the hovering over the link and found the code to redeem. THanks so much!

    Hello,

     

    I was really excited when I read these posts and was able to find the codes for the audiobooks I sent my boyfriend as gifts (after hours or attempting to resend from my computer and redeem from his). Once I had the codes I tried to redeem using them, but after entering each one (there were 3) and clicking redeem I received the message "the gift that you are trying to redeem is no longer available in the iTunes Store". ***?!!!

     

    The books are not available in his 'purchased', so they are not redeemed but waiting for download. Re-sending them doesn't work, redeeming them from the email link doesn't work, and redeeming them via code doesn't work either......I don't know what else to do. I am waiting on a response from apple support, but considering how ridiculous and needlessly complicated this whole process has been so far, I'm not confident that they will help.

     

    I am hoping someone else might know what the message I received actually means and/or how to get around it.

    OMG...really apple.  My sister sent me three albums and I tried everything.  I even had her to resend the gifts.  After doing more research of the code formats I deleted a character at time until I reached the magic code. The code began with 253DEAXXXXXXX.  Once I removed the 2...5...3..D.  BINGO! I hope this helps.  Two hours of my life I will never get back.  Thank you apple for torturing me.  I guess I'll go to bed instead of enjoying my gift!
