Aug 17, 2015 2:54 PM in response to setha13by K Shaffer,You may also have to consider a different hard drive as an installation destination
that has the correct partition map and other details specific for OS X; I'd read this
topic yesterday and had started a reply, covering the grey-disc issue when one of
the details that may cause the result you noted is an incorrect install restore DVD.
To exactly identify the specific PowerBookG4 you have would be helpful in resolving
issues with the original version OS X as-shipped. Some 2005 models shipped with
a grey disc that had Tiger 10.4.x, so a retail 10.4 that was before that exact version,
would not work. {And the original disc set also included various Apple software for
use with the computer; some of those titles are harder to find outside of that kit.}
The last OS X versions on retail DVD for PPC Mac would be better than 10.2 Jaguar.
However finding the retail install disc suitable for use may be costly & hard to find now.
Good luck & happy computing!
