Q: Apple Sport Watch Battery Performance 42mm

My wife has a 42mm sport and I have the 42mm Apple (sapphire) glass. I have a TON of apps on my watch, I can get 12 hours of use, while my wife just doing a factory reset gets less then 50% after wearing it for 4 hours. We have disabled all the obvious and even factory reset it and put on only a few apps.

Is this typical of the sport vs sapphire version?? Same size = same battery? Why is her battery only lasting 8 hours? While mine lasts 12+?

    Hi Jason

There should be no difference between battery life on Apple Watch Sport and Apple Watch. Battery life obviously varies depending on usage, but you can get an indication of what to expect here:

    http://www.apple.com/watch/battery.html

If battery life is shorter than it should be, then try restarting and - if that doesn't work, force restarting - both your wife's iPhone and her Apple Watch:

    • Restart iPhone: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears; Drag the slider to turn your iPhone off; When it has finished turning off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until you see the Apple logo.
    • Force restart iPhone: press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home button for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
    • Restart Apple Watch: Press and hold the side button until you see the Power Off slider; Drag the slider to turn off completely; Afterwards, press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.
    • Force restart Apple Watch: press and hold both the side button and Digital Crown for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

If that doesn't work, try unpairing and re-pairing the Apple Watch. You can also try setting the watch up as a new watch rather than restoring it from backup during the set up process:

If none of the above help, contact Apple Support: https://www.apple.com/support/watch/contact/

In addition o the support suggestions posted by Jonathan, there are a ouple of things that have been observed to shorten battery life susbtantially:

    - Some corporate profiles (for mail, for example)

    - MS Exchange calendar invitations

In both these types of case, the batteyr porblem arises because the watch and the iphone get stuck in a ocnstant loop, communicating with each other. If neither of these apply, look for applications that seem to be spending more time than necessary communcating between watch and phone. If you can't see anything obvious, and nonoe of the other suggestions posted have worked, you could try a process of removing *all* the non-Apple apps from the watch. If battery life doesn't improve, contact Apple support. If it does, then add the apps back in one at a time to identify which might be the culprit.

    Hope that helps

She does have MAAS360 on her phone which is some sort of certificate put on by her employer so she could access corporate email. Which I hate since these are our phones and iOS devices.. But she needs to check work email and due to HIPAA laws, has to have that certificate installed. So it's probably the exchange system draining the battery.
