May 8, 2015 3:48 PM in response to MrCamaleoby mrerik21,I also have been experiencing the very same sort of intermittent flickering on my 27-inch Thunderbolt Display which began almost immediately after updating my Macbook Air (13-inch, Mid 2012) to OS X Yosemite Version 10.10.3.
It seems to happen both when the fan is running and when it's not. It seems unrelated to any other application or task as far as I can tell. As soon as I move a window over the flickering lines, the flickering stops just as others have described, only to return some minutes or hours later. I'm running:
MacBook Air (13-inch, Mid 2012)
2 GHz Intel Core i7
8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Macintosh HD (500 GB SSD)
Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB
connected to a 27-inch Thunderbolt Display (2560 x 1440).
I have not noticed the flickering on the MacBook Air's Built-in Display, though I use it without the Thunderbolt Display connected far less frequently. It appears to be primarily (if not entirely) an issue with the connected Thunderbolt Display.
I have not noticed any cold restarts since updating to 10.10.3.
I had experienced no issues whatsoever (graphics-related or otherwise) before the 10.10.3 update. The flickering lines appeared for the first time just minutes after rebooting into 10.10.3.
Please advise on a solution. It's not only frustrating and distracting, but also threatening my ability to use this setup for professional presentations.

May 21, 2015 9:42 AM in response to n748by Alan Klein1,My Mac mini (Late 2012) 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7 CPU: 4-core, 8 GB RAM is also exhibiting some screen artifacts/flickering in the form of a green bar on the top left of my secondary display (an Apple Cinema Display connected via a mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter.
And, since updating from 10.10.2 to 10.10.3 my Mac mini (previously rock solid) has been experiencing kernel panics randomly every few days. Panic logs are available if anyone would like to have a look. Just let me know.

May 22, 2015 12:10 PM in response to [GeorgeT]by JHenrySlentz,Hi George: Flickering and no Chrome Remote Desktop.
They modified the Intel4000 kext and my thoughts are pointing at that..though I haven't dug into it and replaced the 10.10.3 kext with the 10.10.2 one (however, I have my suspicions that this would fix the flicker)

People who experience the flickering issue, do you have Chrome Remote Desktop installed?
I do not.
As an update to my previous post, I have now also been experiencing cold restarts after upgrading to 10.10.3.

May 25, 2015 11:02 PM in response to MrCamaleoby iMetty,So, one week after disabling transparency i had no more flickering and no panics/restarts.
Maybe anyone can try this too?
System Preferences > Accessibility > Reduce transparency + Increase contrast
Now i make test with enabling transparency again. stay tuned

May 26, 2015 4:15 AM in response to MrCamaleoby Bacchus28,This has been plaguing me for the last two weeks.
I have late 2012 Mac mini with 16 GB RAM and quad 2.3 GHz i7 processor. Connected to 27" Apple Thunderbolt Display.
Yes to Intel HD Graphics 4000
No to running Google Chrome
Haven't turned off transparency because in my initial state before the rebuild I had transparency off and had the solid light coloured top tool bar.
Multiple kernel panics in an hour meant I couldn't even work on the machine with any confidence so I first did a re-install of the OS 10.10.3, then a wipe and rebuild from Time Machine, and finally after no success stopping the kernel panics I did a complete rebuild from a USB boot drive. (Hey, I'm old-school, and who need a break on the weekend ;-)
Rebuild included getting rid of a lot of cruft applications I've tried but not bother to remove so I now had a reasonably clean - and I'll admit a lot faster - Mac mini.
Result? Kernel panics seem* to have stopped but the bars appear every 20 mins or so. Maddeningly more while I'm writing this post! I get rid of them by moving a Finder window over them and it seems to stop the flashing by forcing a screen redraw by the window having to render where it has been moved.
I know it is specifically my Mac mini hardware issue since the same thing happens at work with my MBP 13" Retina at work connected to first a 21" Dell monitor and now a 24" Apple DVI Cinema Display. However the MBP 13 also has Intel HD Graphics 4000 I think as it is similar in age to the Mac mini I have at home. So there is a smoking gun?
I also had a memory failure after re-setting my RAM so I'm now working with only 1 x 8GB chip. I think that was just random though, and it is under warranty so no stress.
(*fingers still crossed and considering offerings to several deities for this to continue...)

Jul 10, 2015 5:04 AM in response to MrCamaleoby Hagar57,I have the same problem with two late 2012 Mac mini (quad ci7, 2.3) with 8 or 16 GB RAM. The problem persists with 10.4.4. After the 10.4.4 upgrade, I also had kernel panics, up to four times in one day, but this has petered out somehow (***?). One of my employees also had a kernel panic reboot on her 13" MacBookAir as well (early 2014). I dutifully send my crash reports to the mothership. I hope they will come up with a solution.

Jul 17, 2015 8:54 AM in response to MrCamaleoby [GeorgeT],Tried 10.10.4, tried the Mac mini EFI firmware update released on July 16th, heck I even tried El Capitan public beta. Nothing - the flickering still appears.

Aug 14, 2015 1:34 AM in response to befediby MrCamaleo,Installed 10.10.5 right now, it looks like this update fixes an issue with the graphics as stated on the about page:
About the security content of OS X Yosemite v10.10.5 and Security Update 2015-006 - Apple Support
AppleGraphicsControl Available for: OS X Yosemite v10.10 to v10.10.4 Impact: A malicious application may be able to determine kernel memory layout Description: An issue existed in AppleGraphicsControl which could have led to the disclosure of kernel memory layout. This issue was addressed through improved bounds checking. CVE-ID CVE-2015-5768 : JieTao Yang of KeenTeam
let's see in the next few days if this finally solve the problem!

Aug 15, 2015 1:27 PM in response to MrCamaleoby BullwinkleJMoose,I have had this problem along with frequent kernel panics ever since 10.10.3. I installed 10.10.5 and it is still a problem with two kernel panics yesterday alone. I'm very disappointed in Apple for leaving a fatal problem like this unpatched for so long. I've owned nothing but Apple since 1981 and this has finally pushed me into taking the painful step of transitioning to Windows.

Aug 19, 2015 6:22 AM in response to MrCamaleoby MrCamaleo,I can confirm, starting yesterday I still get blinking bars.
No kernel panics for the moment but while I was working I was automagically logged out from my account the day after I installed 10.10.5 – it happened only one time for the moment. Better that a restart but still annoying!
Will keep you updated...
