Aug 19, 2015 8:01 AM in response to Gaglesforteaby a brody,First off, how big is the hard drive on your new MacBook Pro (A), and how big is the hard drive on the old MacBook Pro (B), and how much space is free on the new one before the transfer (C), and how much space is free on the old (D)?
That will tell you if you really have enough space to do migration assistant transfer.
(C) >((B)-(D))+0.15*(A)
If it is not, it won't work, and instead you'll have to resort to manual transfer of the key files you want to move over. You aren't going to move over the entire contents of one onto the other. The migration assistant does a best effort to migrate what you need, but sometimes it can migrate too much over.
You may want to do just a restore of the original system on the new machine and start over, keeping the above in mind. Command-R boot on the new machine will let you restore the system as is to its original state.
