Check that:
- Both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are enabled on your iPhone and that your iPhone has access to the internet (via Wi-Fi or mobile data).
- Your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS (Settings > General > Software Update).
- You are signed in to iCloud on your iPhone (Settings > iCloud).
- You are signed in to iCloud on your Apple Watch (Apple Watch app > My Watch > General > Apple ID).
- Your region is set to the US or UK (Apple Watch app > My Watch > General > Language & Region).
- Your iPhone is connected to your Apple Watch (swipe up on the watch face > swipe left / right to the Settings Glance > check status).
- Your watch has Wrist Detection turned on (Apple Watch app > My Watch > General > Wrist Detection).
- You have a Passcode set up on your watch.
- You have your Apple Watch on your wrist and have unlocked it with your Passcode before starting to add the card to Apple Pay.
Then try restarting both your iPhone and your watch before trying again:
Restart Apple Watch: Press and hold the side button until you see the Power Off slider; Drag the slider to turn off completely; Afterwards, press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.
