Q: IPhone 6 Camera Stopped Working after 8.4 Update

After updating to 8.4 two weeks ago, both cameras stopped working.  The camera app shows a black screen and once you press any of the buttons the rest of them stop doing anything.  The shutter button 'clicks' but does nothing, then the settings randomly disappear.  No other modes work, though I can scroll through them.  I can not change to the front camera. Other apps that use the camera will open, but I only get grey screens. (Some crash right away.)

I've restarted, updated to 8.4.1, but nothing.  Any ideas?

Hi.  I have an iphone 4S, and since updating to 8.4.1 on Monday night, my camera is not working either.  It worked perfectly fine before the update.  I have tried to do a reset, however this has not helped.  The camera does not work from other applications - for example on instagram I get an error message saying "error launching the camera".  The above article did not assist.

Download "Snapseed" and see if this app allows the camera to work. This worked for my daughters 4s.. and sadly you won't here a community specialist tell you to download an app to fix a problem like i just did! Now, with that being said, we know the problem is in the IOS update's..!

I don't know why Apple doesn't allow you to "UNINSTALL UPDATES" or install a previous backup that will include the IOS version it was on!!??   By doing that i feel "Apple" basically says,  " We're sorry..... you are now stuck with this broken, insufficient, imprecise, damaged or defective lemon version of IOS until we decide to fix it, or, you can upgrade your phone to our new model that works just fine!! ("Just blowing off some steam")  Anyways, I really hope this helps you and anyone else that comes across this same issue!

Just to chime in as another user who was affected by this Update. My wife's 4s has a camera issue as well. The bottom line of controls i.e. square, photo, video etc are all working. However the top controls i.e. timer flash front facing and HDR are not. Apple please fix this.
