Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
I see from your post that "Wi-Fi" is dropping after the carrier name in the status bar when trying to place a call over Wi-Fi. I suggest going through the steps below to help resolve this issue.
If you don't see “Wi-Fi” after the carrier name in the status bar
Follow these steps. Wait about two minutes between each step.
- Go to Settings > Phone and turn Wi-Fi Calling off, then turn it back on.
- Restart your iPhone.
- Reset network settings on your iPhone. Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
- Connect to a different Wi-Fi network.
