Q: Imac duo core 2.4 intel Icons by the Dozens

I upgraded to Yosemite by the help of techs from apple. Several calls and they helped. Well now they say I have to pay but my problem was never fixed. I have a duo core 2.4ghz imac I bought new from apple. I decided to upgrade to safari by help from a tech. My mac now has icon's on top of icon's on the Desktop. The clean up buttons are inactive on the pull down menu. I do not have a right click mouse on this machine. A tech was telling me to hit shift and whatever and we lost conversation. Well now I have a load of icons on my desktop that I hate to erase any answers.

From the Finder's Go menu, select Desktop. Then select View > as List, then View > Show Status Bar (if it is not already shown).

Post a screenshot (see below). If there are so many files you cannot easily locate it, sort the list by clicking Name. The screenshot will be named "Screen Shot..." followed by a date and time stamp.

    Screenshots (Mac):

To take a screenshot hold ⌘ Shift 4 to create a selection crosshair. Click and hold while you drag the crosshair over the area you wish to capture and then release the mouse or trackpad. You will hear a "camera shutter" sound. This will deposit a screenshot named "Screen Shot...." followed by a date and time on your Desktop.

When you post your response, click the "camera" icon above the text field:

This will display a dialog box which enables you to choose the screenshot file (remember it's on your Desktop) and click the Insert Image button. If you are not using full screen mode you can simply drag the image into the text entry field.

⌘ Shift 4 and then pressing the space bar captures the frontmost window.

⌘ Shift 3 captures the entire screen.

Don't capture or upload any information you consider personal. To edit an existing screenshot, read How to edit a screenshot.

Drag the screenshot to the Trash after you post your reply.

Then select the View menu, and take a screenshot of it.

Exactly how did you contact Apple, and how much did they want you to pay?

What you are describing leads me to believe you may not have been communicating with Apple, but one of any number of scam outfits calling themselves "Apple support" that usually appear prominently in a Google search. They are not affiliated with Apple. I hope my suspicion is incorrect.
