Q: Why does the iPhone 5c display wrong time?

My iphone 5c currently started displaying the wrong time. I hadnt updated the software yet and thought this was the source of the issue. After the update was complete the time was still incorrect. I have tried syncing my phone with itunes, deleting world clocks, doing hard resets, even wiped the phone back to factory settings. Nothing has worked

iPhone 5c, iOS 7.1

I have gone to multiple apple stores, tried everything they have said, and tried everything I've read online.  Nothing works to fix this issue.  I was told to get a new phone.

I Don't know if you have been away abroad or in another time zone but I believe that's what is causing this issue. Quick fix

    1. Go to settings>date&time>set automatically>on (if it's already on turn it off and back on)

    2. Go to settings>privacy>location services>on (same again if it's already on turn it off and back on)

    3. Finally settings>airplane mode (turn it on and wait 10 seconds then turn it off)

FIxed   Worked on mine please let me know if it helped

Ok So here's what's happening, it's a hardware issue Apple are aware of, there is a timedate chip within the handset and a cmos battery, either have failed, now here's your options. If you have ever had your screen replaced don't even bother with Apple they will say it's not covered, if not go to apple and tell them its a known fault, you should end up with a swap out. quote consumer law.

The internal clock for the phone is within the CPU and there is no CMOS battery in an iPhone.

Do you have a cite for this hardware issue you are claiming exists?

I had this exact same problem, I tried everything that this thread and other suggested. I followed JLG Composer's suggestion last night and additionally reset my location settings and it has been working through the morning - so I am crossing my fingers that this lasts! Thanks JLG Composer!

I don't know if it will help, I had this problem for about two weeks and I just went to settings> icloud > and turned off find my phone
my 5c corrected the time instantly even after all previously mentioned methods failed.

I will respond/ edit this post if the problem comes back

I'm having the same problem for the last 2 months, I've also tried to install the new released IOS 9 beta 3 but nothing. I'm starting to think that can be something related to hardware or with IOS after 8.3 (that my problem started), before IOS 8.3 it was working ok.

I've notice that the problem is related with location (hardware or software), all apps that use the GPS are not working right, this cause the time and data and all the rest issues...

Hope that Apple fix this ASAP!
