Q: IPOD is Deleting Playlists and Songs when Connected to ITUNES. WHY?!?!?

I suddenly am seeing this:

1. Dragging a song to a playlist - it deletes the song.

2. Then another song or two will just...delete without prompting.

3. No "delete warning" comes up.

4. Now Playlists I created are deleting.

It is IPOD CLASSIC but has worked fine and I have newest version of ITUNES...

SO?

First see Backup your iTunes for Windows library with SyncToy.

Deletes the song from the device, or the library?
Is it still present in the media folder?
Have you enabled iCloud Music library?
Do you have any iOS devices in addition to the iPod classic?
Are you manually managing the device or syncing it?
Do you have the option "Sync higher bit rate songs to xxx AAC" enabled?
